Community Service Projects 2024

The Community Stitch Sew Along (SAL) Sew Powerful Purse Project is to bring awareness about the health and hygienic needs of girls and women in Zambia by making these crossbody purses to help them remain in school and build better futures for their communities. Please go to the Sew Powerful website and download the free pattern and instructions. Be sure to print them and watch the Sew Powerful purse construction video to see how the purse is sewn. Choose fabrics that you think would be fun and appealing to adolescent girls and women. You may also add embellishments to the purse. These purses will be given to both adolescent girls and to women (mothers, aunties, sisters, etc.). They can be made from scrappy fabrics and denim too. Be sure to include a note of encouragement inside the purse when you’re done.

Please be sure to click the links above or here for the Purse Project — Sew Powerful free pattern and instructions and additional information about Sew Powerful.

THANK YOU SO MUCH for participating in this collaborative community stitch project.  Give completed purses to Sarita Brewer.

Sub-Committee Report: Sleep in Heavenly Peace

Thank you to the Committee for allowing me to return to spearhead this program. On June 12, 2024, I delivered 12 twin sheet sets and comforters.  A more definitive schedule for our donations will be provided in the future.  Thank you to everyone who has already personally donated comforters. We appreciate your willingness to support the Guild’s program. Now that we are a 501C-3 guild, a receipt will be provided to you.
Thank you,
Maxine Morgan
