2024 Strip Club/charm squares


Dear Uhuru Members,

The Uhuru Quilters Guild will be exchanging 5” fabric charm squares. This is a voluntary project and a fun way to quickly expand your fabric collection … especially if you want to make a “Charm Quilt.”
 
To participate:

  • Use good quality 100% quilters cottons.

  • Include enough fabrics that fit into the theme of the month for each member participating.

  • Carefully cut your fabric into 5” charm squares.

  • Place your charm squares into a quart size zip lock bag. Put your name on the bag with a sharpie so that it can be reused (return address labels can also be used. 

  • Note: If you use a 6”x9” manila envelope, if it has the metal closure on it, remove it.  It cannot go thru the post office machine and they will charge for special hand stamping.  I have some Poly Mailers shipping envelopes.  I would be happy to send you some.

  • I will have to determine the cost of the postage based on the number of members who decide to join.  I will let you know in advance if I plan to attend the next month’s meeting.

  • How many 5” squares can you get from yardage?

  • ¼” yard = 8 squares; 1 Fat Quarter = 12 squares; ½ yard = 24 squares; ¾ yard = 40 squares; 1 yard = 56 squares.

  • Please sign up by the day of the Guild Meeting. Charm Squares are due to me by the 5th of the next month.  And they will be returned to you the next meeting.
